Une cérémonie très politique contre l'ICEPas de jaloux, les quatre récompenses suprêmes ont été décernées à quatre artistes différents. Si "Wildflower" de Billie Eilish a été sacrée Chanson de l'année (une troisième pour la chanteuse et son frère Finneas, un record), Bad Bunny reçoit sans surprise l'Album de l'année pour "Debi Tirar Mas Fotos" (180.000 ventes en France), face aux mastodontes Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber ou Sabrina Carpenter. C'est le premier disque hispanophone à recevoir ce prix.

Durant son discours, la star portoricaine, qui fera la mi-temps du Super Bowl le week-end prochain, a dénoncé les assauts de l'ICE : « Nous ne sommes pas des sauvages. Nous ne sommes pas des animaux. Nous ne sommes pas des étrangers. Nous sommes humains et nous sommes Américains ». La cérémonie, très politique, a été marquée par plusieurs artistes portant un badge "ICE Out" ("ICE dehors !").

Olivia Dean sacrée Meilleure nouvelle artisteGrand favori, Bad Bunny n'a finalement récolté que trois prix : Meilleure performance globale pour "Eoo" et Meilleur album de musique urbaine latino. Très attendue elle aussi, Lady Gaga ne remporte que deux trophées, ceux d'Album pop vocal pour "Mayhem" et Enregistrement dance / pop pour "Abracadabra". Le prix du Meilleur nouvel artiste est allé à la chanteuse anglaise Olivia Dean, qui cartonne actuellement avec ses tubes viraux "Man I Need" et "So Easy (To Fall In Love)".
